1. Identify the materials used in production of concrete masonry unit (CMU) and the properties that make them suitable for use in production.
2. Describe how block molds are assembled and used for various shapes and sizes.
3. Gain an understanding of how the materials are mixed and transported, the curing process, and packaging options.
4. Provide an overview of CMU specifications and the different test criteria that are involved.
5. Present some of the aesthetic options available and the special production considerations.

Course Description

An overview of the production of concrete masonry units (CMU) including the selection of raw materials, creating an acceptable mix, ASTM specifications, forming and curing, packaging, and aesthetic options.

3. Distinguish the methods of evaluating fire ratings for concrete masonry. 
4. Utilize the code approved calculated method for determining fire resistance rating of concrete masonry assemblies. 

Course Description

This presentation reviews the methods and procedures for determining fire resistance of CMU systems and balance fire design.
